Michael Hughes has announced his departure from the Stephex team and is looking forward “to the next chapter".

In the fall of 2020, it was announced that the American rider, then 25 years old, would join Stephan Conter's stables. After a four-year partnership, his time at the Brussels stables is coming to an end. Before joining the Stephex team, Hughes rode for the stables of Ashord Farm and Darragh Kenny's Oakland Stables.

A bittersweet feeling today as it is my last day at Stephex,” Michael wrote online. “I can't thank everyone enough for the countless opportunities and memories made in my years here. Looking forward to the next chapter.” Exactly what the 29-year-old American will do next is not yet known, only that he is moving back to America.
