The first round of the individual 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Finals proved to be a difficult one. Large water, a tricky plank on the vertical and a difficult line coming out of the triple combination. In the end a total of 13 combinations managed to produce a clear round, starting the second round with zero points. Former Olympic Gold Medal winner, Eric Lamaze concluded the first round with zero points aboard Fine Lady 5. Also the reigning Olympic Champion Steve Guerdat (Nino des Buissonnets) kept it clear. Germany has two "perfect" riders with Christian Ahlmann (Taloubet Z) and Daniel Deusser (First Class). For the USA it is Kent Farrington who impressed aboard Voyeur. Already in possesion of his Team Gold Medal, 'Bosty' is as well on his way to bring home the individual Gold as well after a clear round aboard Sydney une Prince. A total of 27 combinations qualified for the second round. This includes the combinations with time penalties and maximum one jumping fault (four points). Clear rounds so far:
