Christian Ahlmann takes splendid win in Basel

The first CSI5* Grand Prix of the year proved to be a clash of the Titans in Basel. The jumps were set at a height of 1.60m and a total of 45 horse-rider combinations battled it out for the total 330,000 Swiss Frank prize money. Aboard the 14-year/old Contedro-son Codex One, Zangersheide's first rider, Christian Ahlmann speeded to victory. The pair finished their jump-off clear in 37.72 seconds. Only 3 combinations returned in the Jump-off and only Ahlmann finished clear. First one in, Pénelope Leprevost took the necessary risks with the 11-year-old Vagebond de la Pomm (by Vigo d'arsouilles). The pair stopped the clock in 36.65 seconds, but jumped one rail down along the way. Eventually they finished second and where followed by Portugals Luciana Diniz and Fun it For Fun (by For Pleasure). image The top five was completed by Gerco Schröder with Glock's Cognac Champblanc after finishing their basic round with two time faults. Fifth place was for Jérome Guery and Papillon Z.
