USA's Ali Wolff has kicked-off her HITS week with a victory. Ali Wolff didn't find her match  in the $34,600 Saugerties Jumper Classic aboard Caya. In the opening feature competition of the HITS On the Hudson Championship Week, Wolf took the win over 39 other competitors and a 15-horse jumpoff. There were plenty of clear rounds over the track, with 21 completing the Round 1 track free of jumping faults—including Wolff who was clear with one time aboard her other mount Casall, and New Zealand’s Sharn Wordley and Barnetta with three time faults. Five riders chose to withdraw from the jumpoff, but for those who moved forward, Ireland’s Kevin Babington was right on Wolff’s heels in the jumpoff; he placed 2nd aboard his veteran mount Mark Q with a time of 43.88 seconds. But Wolff and the 10-year-old Holsteiner mare (Carolus I x Lancer II) finished in first on 42.82 seconds. Juan Manuel Gallego of Colombia was 3rd with Coulash Van De Broy Z, and Babington also finished 4th aboard Double O Seven 7. Catherine Tyree rounded out the top five with Enjoy Louis. Competition continues at HITS Saugerties through the weekend, with the $34,600 HITS Jumper Classic at 1.60m scheduled for Friday afternoon. That and Saturday’s $100,000 Hudson Valley Jumper Classic are the lead up to the annual Saugerties $1 Million Grand Prix CSI5*, scheduled for Sunday, September 11th at 2:00pm EST.
