In Mechelen the highlight of the evening has just been ridden: the CSI5* Grand Prix. In this class, 42 combinations entered the show ground, ten of them managed to ride a clear first round and came back for the jump-off. With five Belgians in the jump-off, it looked good for the Belgian home audience. Eventually it was also one of those Belgian rider who took home the Grand Prix. Niels Bruynseels was the last rider to enter the show ring for the jump-off. At that moment Pieter Devos was in the lead with Apart (f. Larino). But Niels Bruynseels showed once again why he is one of the fastest riders of the moment. With Ganzia de Muze (f. Malito de Reve) under the saddle, he rode to the finish line in 31,53 seconds. Pieter Devos and Apart therefore had to settle for second place. They jumped a clear jump-off in 31,71 seconds. The Belgian audience got what they came for with also a Belgian rider on the third place. Nicola Philippaerts and H&M Harley vd Bisschop (f. Dulf vd Bisschop) finished in 31,77 seconds and left the wood untouched. The fourth place went to a Belgian rider as well: Christophe Vanderhasselt was the first rider to enter the jump-off. He and Identity Vitseroel (f. Air Jordan Z) finished on fifth place with 32,90 seconds.
