Waterford’s Francis Connors and Tipperary’s Seamus Hayes, once again dominated the latest round of the Connolly’s RED MILLS Munster Grand Prix league, this time at Limerick Show in Patrickswell. Thirty-six starters went to post in the first round of the Equimax sponsored competition and in the 15 horse jump-off that followed, Connors and Hayes filled six of the top eight places, with victory going to league leader Francis Connors with Hilda Anthony’s brilliant mare Uskerty Diamond Lady after a clear round in 29.05 seconds. However Seamus Hayes maintained his push for overall league honours by finishing as runner up with Twister, just a tenth of a second slower than the winning time. Connors also filled third place with Oilean Uno when clear in 30.02 while Co Kerry’s Maura Counihan produced an excellent performance to take fourth spot with Killerisk Minnie. Incredibly Francis Connors also took fifth place with GRC Tadmus and sixth spot with Macushla R, ahead of Eoin Glynn who finished seventh with Ballymurphy Rose while Seamus Hayes and Barichello W finished in eighth place. The next round of the Connolly’s RED MILLS Munster Grand Prix league will take place at Scariff Show in Co Clare on Saturday August 30th, with Francis Connors at the top of the league table on 77 points, eight points ahead of his nearest rival Seamus Hayes in second.
