CSIO 5* Hickstead : A super finish of the first show jumping day

The first day of the CSIO5* in Hickstead, Great-Britain had a splendid finish. The CSIO is the last qualifier for the FEI Furusiyya Nations Cup Finals organized in Barcelona in September. On the first day two classes were scheduled as a preparation for tomorrow's Nations Cup. First winner was Ireland's Billy Twomey aboard Thomas. Nicole Pavitt followed in a second and also fourth place. Together with Victor Blue and Areeb O.L. she jumped into the spotlight.  Great-Britain's Guy Williams placed as a runner-up aboard Depardieu van't Kiezelhof.

Today's main class however coloured Italian. Juan Carlos Garcia claimed victory with Gitano Van Berkenbroeck. The pair was followed by Dutch show jumping rider, Doron Kuipers with Zinius under the saddle. Ben Maher did defend the home colours well. The British rider completed the stage aboard Aristo Z. Just outside the honorary stage, Belgium's François Mathy Jr. placed with his trusted Polinska des Isles.
