Brazilian Eduardo Menezes and Quintol won last night's $35,000 Las Vegas FEI Welcome Speed Classic, presented by Park Place Foundation. Illustrating their experience and stylish speed, the pair topped a field of fifty-seven starters. German course designer Olaf Petersen, Jr. designed the track for the one-round speed competition, and eleven pairs, representing five countries, went fault-free. Twenty-eighth in the order, Menezes and the ten-year-old Oldenburg gelding Quintol, set a pace that couldn't be beat, completing the course in 62.01 seconds, just over two seconds faster than second place finisher Christian Heineking on Aje Cluny.
