Eric Lamaze wins Grand Prix Rome by mere fractions

Eric Lamaze takes second Grand Prix in a row at the CSIO5* in Rome. Last week Lamaze was on top during the Grand Prix in La Baule. Today he beat Michael Whitaker by a two fractions of a second. In a thrilling jump-off Lamaze and his Dutch bred Zigali PS (v. Kigali) stopped the clock at 41.29, nearly 1 second faster then the current time to beat, with just Micheal Whitaker to go. Whitaker and Viking (v. Jacomar), also a KWPN bred horse, looked like they might steal away the win from Lamaze but fell short just by 0.2 second and having to settle with second place. Dutch talent Frank Schuttert took third place with the characteristic KWPN mare Winchester HS (v. Numero Uno). Click here for full results.
