At the CHIO in Aachen, the Thursday night program concluded with the impressive Nations Cup. After the first round in this Nations Cup only the Dutch team succeeded in not touching one rail. Leopold van Asten (VDL Groep Beauty), Maikel van der Vleuten (Arera C), Marc Houtzager (Sterrehof's Baccarat) and Frank Schuttert (Chianti's Champion) all kept it clear, but eventually had to settle for a third place with a total of nine points. The German show jumping riders speeded to victory on own ground. Only Laura Klaphake produced a double clear round aboard the 10-year-old Catch Me If You Can Old (Catoki). Marcus Ehning (Pret A Tout), Maurice Tebbel (Chacco's Son) and Simone Blum (DSP Alice) all jumped one rail down over two rounds, bringing the total of 6 points. The Irish show jumping squad followed as runner-up with nine points. Shane Sweetnam didn't touch the wood. Aboard Chaqui Z (Chacco-Blue) he however had two times one time fault.
