British rider Guy Williams showed off with an incredible performance to win Saturday's Grand Prix qualifier at the CSI3* event in Vichy riding Casper de Muze (Triomphe de Muze x Corsaire de Vauban). As first to enter the ring, Williams produced a fantastic fast clear and fast round - keeping his lead until the end. An incredible day for Guy, who also celebrated its 44th birthday with his family. Second and third went to two Irish riders; Thomas Ryan and Capt. Michael Kelly. "Casper wins a lot," reflected Guy afterwards delighted with his horse. "We won the Hickstead Speed Derby and twelve other classes this season." On Friday, it was a Spanish victory in the Grand Prix qualifier - with Santiago Nunez Riva ending on top riding Vidar (Concorde x Epilot). The time to complete the 1.50 course designed by Jean-François Gourdin was rather short (88''), pushing riders to take risks. In the end, eight riders qualified for the jump-off representing four countries; Italy, Ireland, Spain and France. Home rider Harold Boisset on Quolita Z (Quasimodo Z x Ramiro), always very fast, put the pressure on his opponents with a clear round in 47.26 seconds. This did not frighten the young Santiago Nunez Riva though, who crossed the finish line with a time three seconds faster. In the end Thomas Ryan and Caribo (Cardento x Athlet Z) ended second behind the Spanish rider, while Boisset had to settle for third.
