The Loro Piana Grand Prix City of Rome was the spectacle of the day in Rome. A clear sky, a shining sun and a smile on the face of Swedish show jumper Henrik von Eckermann. Aboard the 13-years-old Belgian Warmbred Cantinero (by Cento), Eckermann rode to victory in the 1.60m Grand Prix. A total of 13 horse-rider combinations classified for the second round. Eckermann and Cantinero finished with one time penalty. Reigning World Champion, Jeroen Dubbeldam, took in the runner-up position. Together with Zenith SFN NOP he was followed by compatriot Maikel van der Vleuten. With under the saddle VDL Groep Arera C, Van der Vleuten advanced on Sergio Alvarez Moya and G and C Quitador Rochelais, finishing fourth.
