Irish rider Thomas Ryan wins Millstreet Grand Prix

Today at the International CSI3* Grand Prix in Millstreet, Ireland it was home rider Thomas Ryan who took home the win. In this tough 1.55m Grand Prix, twelve riders made it through to the jump-off. Out of 45 starters there were only 8 clears. It was a long and difficult track with the faults evenly distributed throughout. The jump-off was just as difficult with the bogey fence being the wide Liverpool Oxer. Riding the 10 year old Holsteiner stallion Quite Zero, Thomas Ryan had the only double clear round. As the last rider to oh he had the home crowd completely on his side, hoping for an Irish win. He crossed the finish line in a time of 47.95 seconds. In second place was British rider Ellen Whitaker and the 8 year old mare Le Beau. They finished on a total of 1 time fault and a time of 51.54 seconds. In third place was fellow British rider Holly Gillot. Riding the 9 year old Irish Sport Horse gelding Dougie Douglas, the pair crossed the finish line with a time of 44.20 seconds but with 4 faults they had to settle for third place.
