Kent Farrington claims victory in Credit Suisse Grand Prix Geneva

Tonight, the Credit Suisse Grand Prix was one of the most important jumping competitions at this year's CHI Geneva to qualify for the Rolex Grand Prix on Sunday. 16 efforts, 13 obstacles and 22 starting positions for the Rolex Grand Prix – that may seem like a lot, but if 38 riders strive exactly for that and nothing else, then the fight is relentlessly, and nothing is left untried. Unfortunately, Romain Duguet (three faults) and Philippe Weishaupt (eliminated) experienced a bad evening. Both have only one last chance left during tomorrows Coupe de Genève to qualify for Sunday. The Italian Emilio Bicocchi was the first to qualify for the jump-off, followed shortly after by Mark McCauley from Ireland, and many more, including the Swiss riders Werner Muff, Martin Fuchs and Steve Guerdat. Also Luciana Diniz, Laura Kraut, Penélope Leprevost and the young Japanese Karen Polle, who also belonged to the 22 with zero faults, reached the jump-off. In the jump-off one had to ride full attack, and Daniel Bluman set the benchmark very high with a very fast time of 37'06''. But it was the World No.1 and defending champion Kent Farrington who showed how to ride this course even faster. In the saddle of Voyeur he reached the fastest time with 36'42'' and won the Credit Suisse Grand Prix for already the third time! Steve Guerdat finished 5th, 22ths ahead of his compatriot Martin Fuchs on the 6th place. All riders qualified for todays jump-off as well as the four following placed have secured their ticket for the start at the Rolex Grand Prix on Sunday.
