Maikel van der Vleuten succeeds at Treffen opening

James Peeters - EclipseWith a total of 76 starters in the 1.45m class, only 18 managed to pass with no faults. Eventually it was Maikel van der Vleuten who took home the opening class in Treffen, Austria. Maikel rode VDL Groep Eureka finishing in only 66:09 seconds, taking the lead. Vleuten said, “It’s my first time here in Villach and I absolutely love it. When my round was just as I wanted it to be, that’s just wonderful.” Second place went to Robert Whitaker from Great Britain on UB One with a total of 67:01 seconds. French Reynald Angot on Parenthese Tame stopped the timers at 68.20 seconds to end up in third place. The top five was completed by the Irish Alex Duffy and his 9-year-old Cordalme-mare Corona 93 on the fourth place and the Italian Gianni Govoni aboard his 9-year-old Solitair-mare Zoldoer in the fifth position. The Austrian Robert Puck scored for the home-crowd riding Glock's Zaranza (s. Karandasj).
