Max Routledge takes a splendid start in Hickstead

The Hickstead Derby weekend has officially kicked-off with the Open 1.35m Championships set away for Max Routledge and the Cassini I-son, Lord of Arabia. John Whitaker's ride won the class in 38,69 seconds leading in front of Robert Whitaker with Cash Sent (by VDL Groep Verdi TN N.O.P.) under the saddle. Nina Barbour completed the stage aboard's Tracy Priest's Calle after a clear jump-off in 43,70 seconds. The pair was followed by Ben Walker (Havanna de Cavron) and Holly Smith (Grennanstown Sarco Luxhill) in a fourth and fifth place. Routledge also jumped to victory in the 1.30m Grade C Championships. This time with Centos Girl under the saddle. He was followed by Ward Bryony (Figaro VII) and also placed third with Firkov Du Rouet.
