The 1.60M Longines Grand Prix commenced today in Xalapa, Mexico at Club Hìpico Coapexpan, where a field of 24 horse and rider combinations contested the course. The victory was a Mexican trifecta as the top three podium finishers were all home athletes. The track proved difficult and only two riders were clear to move on to the jump-off. The victory belonged to Lorenza O'Farrill and 11-year-old Oldenburg mare Calvira (Calvaro/Colander). They crossed the timers at 46.26 seconds, and were the only pair in the field to put together a double clear round. https://www.facebook.com/montandocom/posts/10156860378706273 Andres Azcarraga and 12-year-old stallion Contendros 2 (Contendro I/Drosselklang II) took second position with a final time of 44.84 seconds after they claimed two rails in the latter half of the jump-off. Gerardo Pasquel Mendez and 13-year-old stallion Mighty Mouse (Quartz Adelheid Z/Codexco) followed in third with one penalty on the clock which kept them out of jump-off contention.
