The 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games together with a busy international CSI5*/4* and 3* program made August a busy competition month. Still Germany’s Christian Ahlmann has maintained his Longines FEI World No. 1 status, but just on his heels are a slew of talented riders that have shuffled up and down the list. USA’s Kent Farrington returns to the World No. 2 position after several wins last week at CSI St. Moritz, and consistent placings elsewhere around the world. Olympic Silver medalist Peder Fredricson of Sweden rose to well inside the world’s top 30, at World No. 18 from his previously held position of World No. 50. Canada’s Eric Lamaze certainly has the World No. 1 ranking in sight after rising from World No. 10, to World No. 5 this month. The leading lady rider in the world is still Penelope Leprevost of France, but she slipped from World No. 3 to 6, and Australia’s Edwina Tops Alexander is closing in on that title with her move up from World No. 14, to 12.
