Yesterday it was the Belgian Young Rider who was the only one to finish Lummen's Grand Prix faultless. On the back of the 11-year-old Cortez (s. Quick Star) Philippaerts won Saturday's small GP, now he and the horse in ownership of Lenssens Stables and Ludo Philippaerts, also triumphed in the 1m60 Grand Prix. Also the number two and three kept the poles untouched however the time was not in their favour. The Brazilian Bernardo Alves and Cloud Nine II (s. Lando) ended in a second position with one time fault. The pair was followed by Neriske Prinslo and Bill Clinton (s. Clinton) with 2 faults.
The top five in this Grand Prix was completed by a platoon of French riders. Marc Dillasser (Obiwan de Pilliere Jo, s. Diamant de Semilly), Olivier Guillon (Lord de Theize (s. Donald Rouge) and Aymeric de Ponnat (Armitages Boy, s. Armitage) finished in a fourth, fifth and sixth position in Lummen's GP. The first round of this competition was the butterfingers, especially the didge and fence number 2 made sure that almost no one finished without a fault.
After the competition Nicola Philippaerts stated to our editors: "Cortez is starting to run good. I never thought we could make a victoriously entrance in Lummen's GP, but here we are, and I am more than happy. The power of Cortez is that, even he is tired, he keeps on going! In contradictory of most horses in the second round, Cortez kept on going with giving me the opportunity to find the perfect balance between hand and leg."
