The Belgian rider Pieter Clemens has just took home the victory at the CSI5* competition in New York in a sensational way. The young rider was the fastest in a jump-off with ten riders. Clemens was the last rider to enter the arena for the jump-off. At that moment, Amanda Derbyshire was leading the ranking. She was the first rider to enter the show ring for the jump-off and she finished in 35,05 seconds. She stood on the lead all jump-off long at it seemed like nobody was going to beat her time anymore. But then Clemens entered... He took home the class with Caldero (f. Camaro M) by being the only rider to make a very short turn to the last fence. Hij finished in 34,82 seconds, which meant his first 5* win ever. Amanda Derbyshire and Luibanta BH (f. Luidam) had to take peace with the second place. The third place went to another Belgian rider: Wilm Vermeir. He and King Kong d'Avifauna (f. Beaulieu's Think Big) came very close to Derbyshires time. He and the only 9-year old gelding cleared the jump-off in 35,18 seconds. Vermeir has had a very good show already: he got placed several times already in the 5* competition. Edward Levy and Starlette de la Roque (f. Jumpy des Fontaines) took account of the fourth place. They left the wood untouched and finished in 35,57 seconds. Karen Polle and Sari (f. Ninio de Rox) ended fifth. Click here for the results
