Stephex Stables-rider Robinson Maupiler (FRA) made it a second victory for the hosts on Sunday, when he won the CSI2* Super Cup STX Prize worth 24 600 Euro.
Maupiler, also victorious in Friday’s 1.40m Super Cup, again proved to have the winning formula aboard the 15-year-old stallion Norlam des Etisses (Quidam de Revel x Uriel) taking home the top prize of 8118 Euro as well as valuable world ranking points.
Eight riders moved on to the jump-off in this 1.45 competition, where Aurora Rangel De Alba (MEX) opened up on Rahmannshof Before (Tenerife VDL x Matterhorn) with a steady clear round in 43.17 seconds. Next to go, Catherine Van Roosbroeck (BEL) took over the lead shaving the time down to 41.73 seconds on the 8-year-old mare Qiazetta Z (Quasimodo Z x Utrillo Z).
As next to go, and with a win already under his belt, a confident and decisive Maupiler entered the ring. Setting the speed up from the very beginning, the French rider kept a super rhythm throughout the round – really pushing it on the penultimate line before he got a great turn to the final fence. When he crossed the finish line, the clock showed a time of 39.23 seconds and it looked very hard to beat.
The remaining five riders all tried, but they could not catch the 23-year-old rider. However, Janika Sprunger (SUI) rode a beautiful round on the scopey stallion Bacardi VDL (Corland x Kannan) to finish third – pushing Aurora Rangel De Alba down to fourth. Fifth place went to the 14-year-old talent Thibault Philippaerts (BEL).
“Today I rode the best horse in the jump-off, and the best horse won. I am very happy and I want to say a big thank you to the whole Stephex-team,” said a happy Robinson Maupiler after his win. “Everybody worked very hard for this show. And also thanks to Stephan, who gave me the ride on this horse. I already knew that he is a very, very fast horse and super careful. I went into the jump-off as number three and I tried to go fast, because I wanted to win again. For this horse it is actually easy, so it all worked out!'
