Press Release : LGCT / Photo : S.Grasso/LGCT Roger-Yves Bost (FRA) and his grey 12 year old stallion Pegase du Murier won the CSI5* Vienna Challenge 2015 presented by Gestüt Römerhof in a phenomenal 43.28s, almost a full two seconds ahead of 2nd place combination Tiffany Foster (CAN) and Brighton. Alberto Zorzi (ITA) took a strong and stylish 3rd place with his 10 year old bay gelding Ad Reflet d’Azif. Frank Rothenberger’s 1,45 / 1,50m course made the most of the 35m x 90m sand arena, with fences placed in all corners to encourage a fast paced competition, much to the delight of the visitors who packed the grandstands opposite the impressive City Hall. 15 clears went through to the jump off including Daniel Deusser (GER), John Whitaker (GBR), Gerfried Puck (AUT), Sheikh Ali Bin Khalid Al Thani (QAT) and Thomas Ryan (IRL) and the second round looked set to be competitive. The first fence caused a few upsets in the jump off, with many riders coming to it in top gear in anticipation for the rest of the round. Tiffany Foster (CAN) rode a stunningly smooth round with her dark bay Brighton, taking the lead initially with a time of 45.21s. However Bosty made his intentions clear from the start, galloping to the first fence with a fantastic pace which he maintained throughout the round. His sharp turns made all the difference and he left nothing to his competitors still to come. Preparations are now underway for the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Vienna presented by LGT Private Banking, which will take place at 18:30 local time.
