Tara Metzner is Hunter Riding’s Next Big Thing

In 2011, California-based professional Tara Metzner won the $5,000 Emerging Pro Challenge at the Capital Challenge in Upper Marlboro, MD aboard the famed hunter Rumba. No one was more surprised by the victory than she was. Last Wednesday, Metzner made the trek east again for the Capital Challenge. This time she competed in $25,000 WCHR Professional Challenge with Davlyn Farms’ Come Monday. Again, she won. And again, she was shocked. Thursday, Metzner was one of six professional riders to qualify for the USHJA World Champion Hunter Rider Finals. With John French, Hunt Tosh, Kelley Farmer, Sandy Ferrell and Scott Stewart competing—it was the who’s who of hunter riding. This time, Metzner didn’t win.
