The Dutch show jumping team have had an incredible few weeks. After claiming both team and individual Gold at the World Equestrian Games last month, they have now emerged as victors of the FEI Nations Cup Finals. Today, Santiago Varela set a very challenging course, with faults spread through out. It was not until the eighth rider, current World Champion Jeroen Dubbeldam, that we saw a clear round. Jeroen's team mates Maikel van der Vleuten (VDL Groep Verdi) and Jur Vrieling (VDL Bubalu) both went clear to clinch the win. In second place was the Canadian team, who finished on a total of 4 faults, as a result of flawless rounds from both Eric Lamaze and Tiffany Foster. Taking third spot was the Swedish team. Clears from both Malin Baryard Johnsson and Henrik von Eckermann allowed them to stay ahead of Belgium and Germany. Perhaps the biggest shock of today's competition was the somewhat poor performance from the German team. Aachen Grand Prix winners Christian Ahlmann and Codex One had 8 faults while Marcus Ehing had 16 faults on his 17 year old veteran Plot Blue. However a clear round from Daniel Duesser (Cornet d'amour) and 4 faults from Ludger Beerbaum (Chiara) kept them in the running to finish fifth. Full Results
