Canada’s Eric Lamaze had another fantastic day at Jumping International La Baule CSIO5* in La Baule, France on Saturday. Following his win from Thursday he made it two wins in three days aboard Artisan Farms’ Fine Lady 5. Lamaze gave the 13-year-old Forsyth- mare  the day off on Friday to come back and contest the 40,000 Derby Région des Pays de La Loire CSIO5*, a two round jump-off competition. A total of 50 entries tacked up for the class. And clear rounds were hard to come by: just seven riders returned for the jump-off, with France’s Cedric Angot choosing not to return. As an unusual event all seven combinations eventually produced a double clear round. But Lamaze and Fine Lady 5 have now proven they know how to go fast and clear and were on perfect form on Saturday to do just that. Their winning time in La Baule of 33.85 seconds was well ahead of the 2nd placed finisher’s of 34.94 seconds. That rider was Gudrun Patteet with Sea Coast Atlantic for Belgium, and it was Jos Verlooy and Sunshine, also for Belgium, who placed 3rd.
