Today at the international CSI3* show in Millstreet, Ireland it was home rider Vincent Byrne who stormed to victory in the 1.35m Speed Derby. Riding the 10 year old Irish Sport Horse gelding Mr.Rockefeller the pair navigated the tricky derby course with a finishing time of 90.41 seconds. It was a difficult course with some natural obstacles, including two inclines and a steep bank, which provided many thrills and spills. The tall plank two strides after the bank dashed the hopes of many who tried to win. It was a complete Irish podium with Jessica Burke finishing in second place aboard the 16 year old Belgian mare Vitesse with a time if 91.45 seconds. Jonathan Gordon finished in third place aboard the 11 year old Oldenburg gelding Quantas H with a time of 92.06 seconds. Out of 61 starters there were 13 clears. It was a highley praised track that provided great sport and entertainment. Click here for the full results.
