A thrilling afternoon in the Falsterbo Nations Cup! For a while, it looked like the USA was going to be victorious, continuing its winning streak after claiming the Mercedes-Benz Nations Cup in Acchen. But Henrik Von Eckermann's clear round made the Nations Cup victory go to the Swedish team, just like last year.
Round after round it looked like the Nations Cup victory belonged to Robert Ridland and his team. They had an amazing run with 2 clears from Spencer Smith aboard Keeneland (Carmena Z) and Karl Cook with Caracole de La Roque (Zandor). With only 8 penalties in total and a very fast time, everything was looking good for the USA. McLain Ward and his 12-year-old High Star Hero (I Am Moerhoeve's Star) were the last to finish. Not keeping it clear, Sweden's last rider, Von Eckermann did know what to do!
Henrik Von Eckermann and Willem Greve's former Minute Man (Vigo d'Arsouilles STX) wanted the win. As last to go for Sweden, they made sure they got the extra clear that was needed to beat the team from overseas. Amanda Landeblad with Springfield 21 (Stakkato Gold) and Petronella Andersson with Olympke van 't Merelsnest (Vigo d'Arsouilles STX) also rode two stunning clear rounds for their country to secure their win together with Peder Fredricson and Alcapone des Carmille (Diamant de Semilly).
The Irish riders equalled USA's penalty points with 0 points on the board for Bill Twomey with Jumping Jack van de Kalevallei (Kannan) and another clear for Trevor Breen with Highland President (Clinton). But they were 5 seconds slower than the team from the United States, thus resulting in a third place.
