Yesterday Jos Verlooy did an amazing job finishing second in the CSI5* Longines Global Champions Tour opening class with Farfelu de Pomme. Only two classes a day are on the program for the five-star show jumping riders. Time enough to spoil their horses, but also themselves. At the first leg of the Global Champions Tour season, it is Euro Horse-rider, Jos Verlooy who gives an insight in his 'tropical' competition experience. "We start the day as usual with a healthy breakfast. After breakfast I had some time free and went to the Miami beach with some friends," states Jos. "I love the beach in Miami, the water temperature is nice and it's a perfect atmosphere. Everyone is relaxed, enjoying their time." "After I took the time to flatwork Farfelu and Caracas. After some 'ice bearing' and stress moment, the adventure started for the first 1.45m class." In this class Jos Verlooy tacked up Farfelu and finished second. "A perfect start with enough confidence to continue the competition. In the 1.50m luck wasn't on my side. Caracas felt great, but we jumped one rail down. As disappointed as I was, we finished the evening with a nice family dinner. Something that is very important to me."
