The Global Champions Tour in Madrid did not need a jump-off to know that Edwina Tops-Alexander was the best of this 5* competition.
In this final of the Madrid Global Champions Tour, a jump-off was scheduled that eventually didn't have to take place. Only one rider managed not to go wrong over the 1.60m high course. It was a nice Mother's Day for Edwina Tops-Alexander.
The Australian rider sent Fellow Castlefield (by Je t'Aime Flamenco) as the only one without faults over the finish line of a technical and difficult 1.60m course. The duo stayed just within the time limit, with 77.25 seconds and the limit at 78 seconds. Andreas Schou (DEN) had the misfortune to finish three hundredths off the time with Darc de Lux (by Darco) and came second. Dutch rider Jur Vrieling also had just one time fault that kept him and Long John Silver 3 (by Lasino) out of the jump-off.
