Jos Kumps is a wellspring of life wisdom, especially when it comes to training young horses and riders. The man known for his "one-liners" shares his insights. "Although riders choose the busy schedules for their horses themselves, the sheer number of competitions is striking," says Kumps. "The constant need to perform and collect points, regardless of the level, puts enormous pressure on the horses. We need to move away from that!" Jos Kumps reflects on the evolution of equestrian sports in recent years. "Most riders lack a solid foundation. But then again, put 40 monkeys on a horse, and one of them will still end up winning. It may sound a bit disrespectful, but it's the truth..."
