The Longines Global Champions Tour of St Tropez, Ramatuelle is set to dazzle once again as it brings together the crème de la crème of the equestrian world in one of the most glamorous destinations on the planet. From 30 May to 1 June, 2024, the picturesque setting of St Tropez Ramatuelle will host an unforgettable event that combines the finest in sport, style, and sophistication.
There was some controversy earlier about the organization of the Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show. The preliminary schedule indicated that grooms would have to stay in a hotel 30 km away from the event. In itself, this is not a big issue, except that they also have to share rooms, and no shuttle service is provided. "Unacceptable..." was the reaction.
The rider lineup for this year’s event is nothing short of stellar. Leading the pack is the current LGCT Championship leader, Eduardo Alvarez Aznar from Spain, who faces critical decisions to maintain his lead. Joining him, in second place at the moment is Max Kühner and LGCT Grand Prix of Madrid winner and third place in the Championship standings Christian Kukuk, is also set to compete, bringing his exceptional form to St Tropez with hopes of climbing the leaderboard.
Speed demon and last year’s LGCT Grand Prix of St Tropez, Ramatuelle winner Julien Epaillard will be aiming for back to back wins. Additionally, the equestrian world eagerly anticipates last year’s LGCT overall runner up, Maikel van der Vleuten who is poised to make a triumphant Championship race effort in St Tropez.
The lineup further includes equestrian luminaries such as previous LGCT Grand Prix of St Tropez, Ramatuelle winners Malin Baryard-Johnsson and Jessica Spingsteen, Mexico LGCT Grand Prix winner Nicola Philippaerts, British greats John Whitaker and Scott Brash will also compete, alongside other top talents like Laura Kraut, Christian Ahlmann, Niels Bruynseels and the likes of Pieter Devos.
While the French home riders are out in full force this week with Edward Levy, Gregory Cottard, Ines Joly, Jean-Luc Mourier, Jeanne Sadran, Julien Anquetin, Kevin Staut, Nina Mallevaey, Olivier Robert, Philippe Rozier, Roger-Yves Bost and Simon Delestre.
