Concordess NRW (by Congress) and German Philipp Schulze Topphoff were an absolute dream team. Together, the pair climbed from the very first trials for young horses all the way up to the world top of show jumping. That successful pair is now apart after eight years. The 13-year-old grey mare was sold to Qatar with a view to the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
Schulze Topphoff and the Westphalian mare, bred by Delia Brügmann, excelled worldwide at the highest level, and the 28-year-old German owes much of his success to Concordess. Among others, the pair won the World Cup of La Coruna at the end of 2021, and also jumped to a ranking in the Rolex Grand Prix in Aachen that same year.
To spring-reiter.de, Philipp Schulze Topphoff confirmed the sale: "Yes, it is unfortunately true. We did not take the step lightly, we looked closely at the new owners beforehand. The mare is having a very good time there, they are taking fantastic care of her."
Eye on Olympics
With an eye on the 2024 Paris Olympics, the Arabs are investing big, offering top prices for successful horses. Concordess NRW's new rider, 29-year-old Rashid Towaim Ali Al Marri from Qatar, competed with the mare for the first time at a 1.35m competition in Oliva this week.
