This afternoon, the 1.60m Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix will take place in Riesenbeck. This morning, the CSI5 riders warmed up with a challenging 1.50m speed class. Abdel Saïd and his 10-year-old SF mare, Etincelle d'Ellipse, took a narrow lead to victory. Earlier this week, the pair finished fourth at Ludger Beerbaum.*
Said was thrilled with the result. "I'm really happy that my mare is showing her true potential. After my time 'out', I'm starting to get back in shape step by step. Ready for the Grand Prix this afternoon..."
Abdel Said and his daughter by Apache d'Adriers were just a few tenths of a second faster than Dutchman Gerben Morsink and his 10-year-old Zangersheide mare, Colina Z (Ingmar). In front of his home crowd, Mario Stevens completed the top three with a difference of about one second.
Stevens followed with Carrie 22 (Christian) ahead of Sophie Hinners and Iron Dames my Prins (Zilverstar T). Hinners had already secured the GCL team victory for her team earlier this week. On the back of the 12-year-old BWP gelding (born as My Prins van Dorperheide, breeder: Ludo Philippaerts), German rider Marco Kutscher finished ahead of Outrageous Charmer (Presley Boy).
Jérôme Guery also jumped into eleventh place with his 12-year-old sBs gelding, Great Britain V (Nabab de Rêve).
