Goossens and Alaska Z ended their partnership on a high note, finishing second in the Grand Prix of Opglabbeek. It was a fitting conclusion to a remarkable season that saw the combination steadily progress through the international ranks.

Alongside their victories at 1.45m and 1.50m level, the pair also delivered strong performances in 1.55m and 1.60m competitions. Another memorable milestone came when they represented their country together in their first Nations Cup.

An emotional farewell

Reflecting on their journey on social media, Goossens expressed both gratitude and sadness as he announced the end of their partnership.

"You are more than just a horse to me, you are my best friend. We will miss you more than words can describe," the Belgian rider shared.

Despite the emotional farewell, Goossens is delighted to see Alaska Z continue competing at the highest level. The horse has now joined Brazilian international Yuri Mansur, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his sporting career.

The new partnership has already made its first appearance in the competition arena, with Goossens expressing optimism after watching footage of their opening round.

He concluded his message by wishing Mansur and Alaska Z every success in the future, while thanking his former partner for the memories and achievements they shared.
