Team Millar has announced that Amy Millar’s long-time equine partner, Truman (Mylord Carthago x Colibri, bred by Aurore Merel), will step back from competition. The 16-year-old gelding joined the Millar family in 2017, after having already been campaigned internationally by Maelle Martin (FRA), Gregory Wathelet (BEL), Tiffany Foster (CAN), and Yann Candele (CAN).
Together with Amy, Truman proudly represented Canada at some of the sport’s greatest stages, including the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, the 2022 World Championships in Herning, and the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, where they brought home a team silver medal and placed sixth individually. The pair also contributed to Canada’s Nations Cup victory at Spruce Meadows in 2021.
Reflecting on his journey, Team Millar highlighted Truman’s many achievements: 10 Nations Cup appearances, podium finishes at both Nations Cups and FEI Grand Prix events, and his role in securing Pan American Games medals for Canada. They emphasized that Truman’s career was the product of many hands. The care of groom Danny Ingratta, the support of owners Patrick and Patty Overlund, and the dedication of veterinarians and farriers.
In their farewell message, Team Millar expressed gratitude for Truman’s heart, determination, and unforgettable moments in the sport: “Truman gave us everything. His fight, his spirit, and countless memories. He will always be part of our story and of Team Canada.”
