The inaugural day of the Longines Versilia Horse Show, presented by Giorgio Armani, kicked off with a script-defying victory in Lido di Camaiore. In a field packed with seasoned world-class athletes, it was the youngest rider in the stable who stole the spotlight.
At just 16 years old, Andrea Pisani made his five-star debut one for the history books. Competing in his first-ever event at this level, the teenager claimed victory in the Longines Welcome Stakes, a competitive two-phase class that saw 53 horse-and-rider combinations take to the Tuscan arena.
The win carries a special weight for the Pisani family; Andrea is the son of Italian national rider Riccardo Pisani and accomplished rider Silvia Bazzani.
Partnered with the experienced grey stallion Charlemagne JT Z(Cachas x Carthago), Pisani showed composure far beyond his years. The pair delivered a blistering clear round in the second phase, stopping the clock at 24.24 seconds.
His performance was enough to relegate some of the sport's biggest names to the lower steps of the podium. Belgium’s Jérôme Guery placed as runner-up aboard Qartouche de la Pomme d'Or (Vigo d'Arsouilles x Ustinov), while Giacomo Bassi completed the stage with Cape Cod (Tornesch x Kashmir van schuttershof).
Swiss superstar Martin Fuchs, who narrowly missed the podium with Falcon du Toultia Z advanced on 22-year-old Italian talent Aurora Guaragno secured an impressive fifth place with Contento 23 (0/25.22).
