In Rabat, the 1.60m Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix delivered exciting sport. In the end, Angelica Augustsson Zanotelli jumped to victory with Iron Dames Calvino II de Nyze!
In the final LGCT Grand Prix of the year, the last ticket for the Super Grand Prix was handed out. This resulted in a thrilling class with nine combinations starting in the ultimate jump-off. Halfway through the course, Angelica Augustsson Zanotelli sped into the lead with the Zangersheide stallion bred by Danny Nijs, Iron Dames Calvino II de Nyze Z (Calvaro F.C.). The stallion was previously ridden by Thibeau Spits, among others.
"I'm a bit emotional about this win," Angelica said afterwards. "I wouldn't have dared to dream of this performance. This is only possible through the daily commitment of the entire team behind me, including my husband, Marlon Modolo Zanotelli, and sponsor, Iron Dames."
"Calvino II de Nyze is fantastic; he fights every time in the arena. Every time I take him to a show, I feel like he truly enjoys the competition!"
Augustsson clocked a clear round in 47.91 seconds. Only two combinations managed to complete the jump-off without any faults. Together with Cordial (Casall, breeder: Hans-Hermann Gempf), Denis Lynch jumped into second place.
Finishing in 46.24 seconds, but with one rail down, Christian Ahlmann completed the top three. Ahlmann placed in the saddle of Untouched LB (United Touch S, breeder: Lena Bieler & Thomas Verhufen).
reached fourth place, followed by Harry Allen and Edison de Hus (Conrad). The pair stayed a few tenths of a second ahead of Philipp Weishaupt and the nine-year-old Callao L (Congress).
The LGCT Grand Prix winner of Cairo, Pieter Devos, saddled the 11-year-old BWP gelding Primo DV (Vigo d'Arsouilles) this time. Together with the home-bred gelding, Devos finished in seventh place.
