A challenging Grand Prix in Wellington saw only four combinations make it to the jump-off. In the 1.60m course, the Mexican national anthem played at the end, thanks to Arturo Parada Vallejo and his Belgian-bred horse, Fellow van 't Moerven.
Arturo Parada Vallejo was the only rider to complete the 1.60m Grand Prix jump-off without faults. The Mexican rider secured victory in the CSIO4* Grand Prix aboard the KWPN horse Fellow van 't Moerven (VDL Zirocco Blue N.O.P. x Farmer, breeder: Marc Meeusen). Mark Bluman recorded the fastest time with S&L Maracana (Lucky du Reverdy x Pronto).
The duo was about one second faster than Vallejo but knocked down a rail. Charlie Jones completed the podium, riding Capitale 6 (Cassini I x For Pleasure).
Just outside the top three was Gabriel de Matos Machado with Legaland Sandro (Sandro Boy). Belgium’s Zoé Conter finished fifth with La Una (Chacco-Blue) after incurring one time fault in the main round.
