Dressage may take center stage this afternoon in Rotterdam, but the Irish show jumpers are making headlines of their own. In the 1.50m BIOS Groep Prize, Bertram Allen secured the win after a ten-rider jump-off, edging out fellow countryman Tom Wachman.
Allen piloted the 13-year-old Irish gelding Pacino Amiro (by Pacino) to a flawless round, stopping the clock at 37.88 seconds. The pair narrowly held off Tom Wachman aboard the 10-year-old Obora's Laura (by Luidam), who settled for second.
Switzerland’s Edouard Schmitz completed the podium, finishing third with the 16-year-old gelding Quno (by Quo Vados).
Just off the podium, Sweden’s Petronella Andersson took fourth with the 11-year-old BWP mare Opmaine de W&S (by Etoulon). Rounding out the top five was former Belgian champion Jos Verlooy and his 15-year-old gelding FTS Killossery Konfusion (by Siec Livello).
