The British team proved an unstoppable force while the Duchess of Edinburgh, member of the royal family, watched from the stands. Ben Maher with the SF gelding Enjeu De Grisien (Toulon), Joseph Stockdale with Ebanking (Toulon) and Donald Whitaker with Millfield Colette (Cornet Obolensky) all jumped double clear. Matthew Sampson also competed aboard Ebolensky (Clinton).

"The spirit of this team is second to none, it has come together so well this year. Three members of this team are European silver medalists. We have been building step by step, but to take the win here in Spruce Meadows… I am so proud of them all," said Chef d’Equipe Di Lampard afterwards.

On the podium, Germany followed in second place after Richard Vogel with Cloudio (Casall) clipped the final fence. For Germany, Sophie Hinners with Iron Dames Singclair (Singular LS La Silla) and Daniel Deusser with Gangster v/h Noddevelt (Eldorado vd Zeshoek) both delivered two clear rounds.

Third place went to the United States of America.
