Together with the 11-year-old KWPN mare, Katja (Etoulon, breeder: G.M. Hebbink), Denis Lynch secures a repeat victory today. After the pair already won the 1.45m CSI5* on Friday, they kept the competition at bay this morning in the 1.45m speed class.
Denis Lynch sees a bright future with the mare. "My main focus is the Grand Prix tonight and the World Cup on Sunday. But this mare is one for the future! She is incredibly competitive and loves to 'race' through the course at a high tempo..." the Irishman says.
In this Turkish Airlines prize, Lynch and the 11-year-old mare finished over one second ahead of Giampiero Garofalo and the 12-year-old Kadessa Z (Kannan, breeder: J.A.M. Bocken). The Italian won Friday's main class with his Entertainer offspring, Lambrusco. Julien Anquetin completed the top three this time in the saddle of the 10-year-old sBs gelding, Kornet Chavannais (Cornet Obolensky, breeder: Yvan Evrard).
Finishing just off the podium was Jone Illi in front of a home crowd. Riding Caprivi 23 (Carridam), the Finn stayed narrowly ahead of Enrico van Manen and the 10-year-old KWPN gelding, Lehman (Batic VDL).
