CSI4* Big Tour 1m45

The highlight of the day came in the CSI4* 1m45 Longines Ranking class, a competition held with jump-off that brought together an impressive international field. After a demanding first round, fourteen combinations returned for the decisive jump-off. The victory went to Switzerland’s Edouard Schmitz. In the saddle of Dillen 111 Z (De Flor 111 Z) he produced two immaculate clear rounds and flew through the jump-off in a winning time of 39.77 seconds, setting an unbeatable target.

Second place was claimed by Italy’s Riccardo Pisani. Riding Scooby-Lou (Cascallo), he also kept a clean sheet in both rounds and crossed the finish line in 40.24 seconds, just fractions behind the winner. The third step on the podium went to Belgian rider Gilles Thomas. On the back of Plus Belle van T&L (Corydon van T&L) he delivered a faultless performance in 40.28 seconds, confirming his consistent form at this level.

Great Britain’s Holly Smith finished just outside the podium places. Aboard Sing Z (Copycat Z) she recorded another double clear and stopped the clock at 40.60 seconds for fourth position. The top five was completed by Dutch rider Sanne Thijssen. Riding Os le Petit Cheval (Peppermill), she produced a stylish performance and finished in 40.78 seconds, securing an excellent fifth place in this prestigious ranking class.

CSI4* Medium Tour 1m50

This class provided plenty of excitement in a fast two-phase format. Once again Edouard Schmitz proved to be the man to beat. This time in the saddle of Karel Doorman (Dakar VDL), he jumped two flawless phases and set a lightning-fast time of 30.81 seconds to take the win in convincing style.

The runner-up position went to Roy van Beek. The Dutch rider guided Diamant de Quidam – H (Diamant de Semilly) smoothly through both phases and crossed the line in 33.11 seconds, a performance good enough for a strong second place. The battle for third was particularly remarkable.

Germany’s Kendra Claricia Brinkop dominated the top three, sharing the position with herself. Riding Replay van ’t Paradijs (Bamako de Muze) she posted a time of 33.87 seconds, and on the back of Gatsby le Magnific (Action Breaker) she produced an identical round and exactly the same time, taking joint third place with two different horses.

Fifth place in this competitive 1m50 class went to Belgium’s Gilles Thomas. In the saddle of Happy Landais (Andiamo Semilly) he remained faultless and completed the course in 33.93 seconds, rounding off a high-quality top five.
