It was an Itialian winning kick-off at the CSI5* in Verona. In front of his homecrowd, Emanuele Gaudiano speeded to the win in the 1.45m CSI5* opening class, counting on his Dutch bred, Jaja (VDL Zirocco Blue). Also in the following 1.50m class Gaudiano set the fastest time!
Gaudiano claimed victory this afternoon in the 1.45m opening class riding the 10-year-old KWPN gelding, Jaja (VDL Zirocco Blue, breeder: Olthof). The Italian was the only rider to remain clear in under 30 seconds. Over a second behind, Luca Coata followed with the 13-year-old Holsteiner mare, Cassirana del Rilate (San Patrignano Cassini).
The top three of this 1.45m class was completed by Gerfried Puck and the 11-year-old KWPN stallion, Ideaal Special H.J. (Falaise de Muze). The Austrian thus relegated Jane Richard with Fouego de la Closiere (NAbab de Rêve) to fourth place, while Sophie Hinners completed the top five in the saddle of Nuraya 3 (Nurjev).

In the following 1.50m CSI5* class Italy's Gaudiano continued his winning streak. Aboard Belgium's Walter Lelie's bred, Nikolaj de Music (Kannan), Gaudiano jumped to the win with almost two seconds advantage. Gaudiano and the 11-year-old son by Kannan referred Switzerland's Barbara Schnieper aboard Judy KM (Joly St. Hubert) to the runner-up position.
The stage was completed by Belgium's Jérôme Guery and his 12-year-old sBs-gelding, Great Britain V (Nabab de Rêve).
The pair was followed by Rolf-Göran Bengtsson and Caillan (Casall). While Petronella Andersson completed the top five aboard the 10-year-old AES-mare, Olympke Van 't Merelsnest (Vigo d'Arsouilles).
