Albert Zoer has announced on his social media the passing of his top horse, Sam (Calvados x Ahorn). "The star who won the Grand Prix of Aachen at the age of 9 is no longer with us, rest in peace dear Sam!"
The gelding reached the age of 26. Together with Zoer, the son of Calvados last competed internationally in 2013 during the CSIO5* in Rotterdam. In addition to the Grand Prix victory in Aachen, the pair also won the 1.60m H&M Ivy Stakes at CSI5W London Olympia in 2008, the 1.50m CSI5W Prix Land Rover in Bordeaux, as well as the 1.55m in ’s-Hertogenbosch in 2011.
In total, the pair’s record includes 13 international victories.
