On her social media, Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum announced the passing of her top horse, Leena (Lord Liberty x Wenekreis). “How lucky I have been to know you from when you were six years old until your 33rd year!”
The mare, bred by Imke Westermann-Oehmen, was initially purchased by Jim and Nancy Clark for Markus Beerbaum. Together with the German show jumper, the mare earned numerous international prizes, including a top ranking at the FEI Jumping World Cup Final in Las Vegas in 2007.
At age 16, the mare retired from competition. That same year, Leena won the CSI4* Championat der Kröpcke Passage in Hanover.
“Thank you for all the Grand Prix victories you achieved with Markus. We will never forget your jump-offs! You were incredibly fast.”
The EQunews team extends its sincere condolences to everyone involved.
