With the FEI World Championships Aachen 2026 just around the corner, the FEI has launched its brand-new campaign: ‘Years in the Making. Moments of Glory.’ This campaign puts a spotlight on the dedication, passion, and unique relationship between horse and athlete—the very foundation of equestrian sport’s greatest achievements.
The campaign celebrates the long journey athletes undertake long before they step into the spotlight. It is all about building blind trust and making the sacrifices required to reach the absolute pinnacle of global sport. This initiative seamlessly complements Aachen 2026’s own ‘Welcome Home’ campaign, which celebrates the rich heritage and iconic atmosphere of the host venue. Together, they tell the complete story of the upcoming World Championships: the dedication that shapes champions and the unforgettable sporting moments about to unfold.
The Story Behind the Elite Performance
François Vergnol, FEI Executive Director of Commercial, Marketing and Communications, explains the vision behind the campaign:
“Fans around the world see the incredible moments our athletes create on the biggest stages. But behind every performance is a much bigger story about dedication, setbacks, patience and the countless hours spent building the amazing connection between horse and athlete. ‘Years in the Making. Moments of Glory.’ is about celebrating everything that comes before the moment everyone sees.”
According to Vergnol, Aachen is the ultimate destination for this message. “It represents the destination that so many athletes work towards, and its ‘Welcome Home’ message captures the feeling of arriving at the place where years of preparation finally come together.”
A Crucial Milestone on the Road to LA 2028
The World Championships in Aachen also serve as a critical stepping stone on the road to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Athletes competing in Dressage, Eventing, Jumping, and Para Dressage will have the opportunity to secure highly coveted qualification slots for their nations, adding an extra layer of elite sporting tension to the event.
With its unparalleled infrastructure, Aachen is no stranger to the highest level of competition. The venue has previously hosted six FEI World Championships, nine European Championships, and the landmark 2006 edition, which famously brought all FEI disciplines together at a single venue.
Áine Power, FEI Executive Director of Sport and Games, adds:
“Few venues in equestrian sport carry the heritage of Aachen. The knowledge, experience and passion of the Aachen community, combined with its world-class facilities and unique atmosphere, create the perfect environment for the world’s best combinations to compete at the highest level. The FEI World Championships Aachen 2026 will put equestrian sport at the centre of the global sporting calendar in August 2026, with six incredible equestrian disciplines on display in one venue over two action packed weeks. This is where the next chapter of equestrian history will be written.”
