Earlier this year, Vernaet showcased the son of Corydon van T&L during the World Cup in Oslo. In October, the pair jumped to sixth place in this World Cup qualifier. This turned out to be the combination's final international appearance.

Vernaet also started the 10-year-old BWP gelding in Calgary this summer and jumped to third place with the Belgian team in the CSIO5* Nations Cup in Hickstead, among others. During the CSIO4* Nations Cup of Sopot, the duo secured the win for Belgium thanks to a double clear round.

"From a sporting perspective this is a step back, but as a rider/dealer you always have to make decisions for the bigger picture," Vernaet tells our editorial staff. "I am happy with the deal, but sport-wise it is a slight downer. Still, I have hope regarding the succession with horses like Quatre Mai-L and Orak D'Hamwyck T&L..."

Paulus-L was owned by T&L Stables.
