In Vejer de la Frontera, the 1.50m Grand Prix qualifier was held as a direct time competition. Reigning Belgian champion Gilles Thomas raced to victory with the nine-year-old Zangersheide mare, Lavanoche T&L Z (breeder: Guy Vandeven).
Gilles Thomas continues his winning streak. The Belgian rider had already won earlier in the Sunshine Tour with Chuck Mariënshof. In today’s CSI4* 1.50m qualifier, Thomas kept the competition at bay with the nine-year-old Zangersheide mare, Lavanoche T&L Z (Lavallino Ter Klomp). The pair finished more than a second ahead of Carlos Bosch Cebrian and the nine-year-old AES mare, Jolie van der Berghoeve (Jaguar vd Berghoeve).
With the mare bred by Paul van den Bosch, the Spanish rider stayed ahead of fellow countryman Kevin Gonzalez De Zarate Fernandez, who rode Cantuccini 17 (Kannan). In fourth place was Armando Trapote in the saddle of the 10-year-old gelding, Karl P (Carrera VDL). Fifth place went to Mark McAuley with Fury Nocturne (Volany du Boisdeville).
