On Friday evening, the obstacles in the Spanish city of A Coruña were built to a height of 1.55 meters. In the CSI5* speed class, German show jumper Hans-Dieter Dreher recorded the fastest time with his trusted SF gelding, Vestmalle des Cotis (Baloubet du Rouet). The pair finished one-tenth of a second ahead of local rider, Jesus Garmendia Echevarria.
'Hansi' Dreher and the 15-year-old son of Baloubet du Rouet, bred by M. Rudy Cock, kept the Spaniard, Jesus Garmendia Echevarria with Callias (Companiero) from the final victory. The entire top three finished within half a second of each other. Simon Delestre completed the podium in the saddle of his 11-year-old Zangersheide gelding, Dexter Fontenis Z (Diarado).
The duo was followed by the world number one show jumper, Henrik von Eckermann, with the 14-year-old mare, Toveks Azaria Dinero (Mylord Carthago*HN) under saddle. The top five of this main class was completed by Daniel Deusser and Otello de Guldenboom (Tobago Z).
