The crowd was on the edge of their seats during the 8-combination jump-off of the 1.55m Grand Prix of Maastricht. In front of his home crowd, Harrie Smolders jumped to victory with the 12-year-old BWP gelding, Mr. Tac (breeder: Edmon Meyers). Smolders showed a strong display of horsemanship, finishing over a second ahead of the competition!
"Maastricht is truly one of the coziest indoor competitions there is. I'm very happy that I got to win here. Because this Grand Prix has been on my list for a long time!" says Harrie Smolders. "I really want to thank the audience, the organization, and the sponsors for making this beautiful competition possible every year! Thanks on behalf of the sport..." concludes the Dutchman!
Together with his Non Stop son, Smolders relegated Laura Kraut with Bisquetta (Bisquet Balou C, breeder: Claire McCarthy-Winters) to second place. Pieter Devos secured an international top three. Devos completed the podium with his own bred, Primo DV (Vigo d'Arsouilles).
Dutch revelation of the year, Kim Emmen followed with her Olympic hope, Imagine (Cassini Gold) in fourth place. Only these four pairs managed to jump a double clear round. In front of his home crowd, Marc Houtzager completed the top five with his 16-year-old Sterrehof's Dante (Canturano).
